You can care for the sea even from the mountains. You don't need to live on the coast to help sea turtles. Your gift counts, and so do your everyday choices.

Change your routine

Many of the threats turtles face are decided far from the beach, in what we buy and what we eat.

Don't buy hawksbill shell (carey): no jewelry, no combs, no souvenirs, NOTHING made of carey.
Do you know where and how your fish was caught? Always ask.
Use less plastic, especially single-use plastic.
Don't eat turtle meat or eggs.
During Holy Week and holidays, be a turtle-friendly tourist.

Travel responsibly

Before joining any turtle "release", ask these questions. If the answer is no, better not take part.

Do they follow globally standardized protocols?
Do turtles spend little time in captivity, and never more than 30 days?
Is it a small group, with no touching and no flash?
Do they work with the local community and leave it some benefit?
Do they explain where each turtle comes from and why it is being released?
